Obituary of Robert W. Donaldson

Robert W. Donaldson was born in Newark, New Jersey to Ruth Garris and Robert Donaldson on May 28, 1958. He made his transition on December 24, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Robert was the youngest of 5 children. He received his education in the Newark Public School System and played football for Shabazz High School

Robert “Radee” Donaldson worked as a custodian at East Orange City Hall before he retired.  He was known to his family as a loving husband, father, and excellent provider. He loved being of service and feeding the homeless. He was a proud grandfather, a great brother, and a knowledgeable friend. Even though he faced battles early on in life he grew to be a dependable role model of what a family man should be. Before his untimely demise he loved and lived for his 12-step program. We will all miss his laidback, cool, witty demeanor.

Robert met and married the love of his life Charlene Davis on October 6, 2017. They spent a lovely 5 years married before the Most Gracious, Most Merciful Allah welcomed his servant.

Robert is survived by his beautiful wife Charlene Davis–Donaldson.  1 son Nafi Williams, 2 daughters Latisha Gartrell-Leatham and Mahdina Williams.  5 stepchildren Kylah, Aaliyah, Sherrod, Lawrence and A’naija. 9 grandkids Tasheem, Denea, Shaquan, Dajier, Jumarri, Jumora, Alize, Nova, Cathy and 5 step grandkids. 8 great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves to also mourn his sisters, Nancy Basset, and Lynn Wiggins. His brother Willie Smith and Uncle Floyd Johnson.

             He will be greatly missed.
