Horace Lathan Braswell

Horace Braswell. also known as "Hanif" was born on August 23, 1950, in Newark, NJ to Mapletine Braswell and the late Horace Braswell Sr. He was returned by Allah on January 17, 2021, in Newark, NJ.

Horace grew up in the wonderful city of Newark, NJ, he attended the Newark Public Schools, attended Weequahic H.S. and graduated in 1967, and continued his studies at Fort Scott Kansas College, and graduated in 1970.
Hanif married Virgen Soto on June 29, 1983.  During their union, four children were created.  Hanif also has three children with Myra Muniz.

Horace (Hanif) worked for  The City of Newark in Public Works.

Horace (Hanif)  was loved by all who knew him. He loved to joke and spend time with his grandchildren... Also, he enjoyed spending quality time with his #1 favorite lady in the world is his mother!

Horace  (Hanif) is survived by his children Amira Britt, Shariff, (daughter-in-law Zeleide) Wali, Tito,  Nano(daughter-in-law Alyssa), and Aminah Muniz, 12 Grandchildren Khalif and Anthony Britt, Ja-Niyah, and Ja’Nae Jones, Lenay, Neyla, Nathan, Jaiden, Tianey, Lucie, Lana, and Elvin Muniz. 2 Great-grandchildren Alia, and Kali Britt, his mother Mapletine Braswell, Mother-in-Law Anna Velez, Father-in-Law Eugene Soto, brother Paul Braswell and host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Horace Braswell Sr.,  Son Paul “Boink” Braswell, and 2 brothers Zaid, and James Braswell.
